India to Catalyze the Growth of IT-BPO Industry in SAARC Countries

New Delhi, August 13, 2008: The Information Technology Commerce Network (ITCN) Conference held in Karachi, Pakistan took the first major step towards bolstering India's active involvement towards promoting the growth of the IT-BPO industry in South Asia. The International Conference on Call Centers & BPO 2008 witnessed India's participation for the first time through video conferencing. Mr. Samir Chopra, President - Business Process Industries Association of India (BPIAI) addressed the conference from India.

Addressing the conference, Mr. Chopra said "This conference is a very significant step towards strengthening the trade relations between India and Pakistan aswell. Such conferences are an excellent platform to meet global business and political leaders. They give us an opportunity to exchange ideas to manage the Business Process Industry. We need to collaborate on such topical seminars and promote industrial and business delegations in order to accelerate the growth of the IT-BPO industry in South Asia."

Speaking about India's participation in conference, Mr. Abdullah Butt, President - Association of Call Centre Operators (ACCO) said, "I am glad that we have Mr. Chopra from India addressing the conference this year. India has attained a very strong foothold in the international BPO market. I am sure we can work together and bank upon each others’ strengths in future. We are looking forward to more events like this in which business leaders from all the countries can come together and work towards the goal of strengthening business relations and the industries across borders."
